Abstract: Nathdwara, a unique temple town in western India, developed solely around the Shrinathji temple. The town’s existence, socio-economic structure, and distinct socio-cultural and religious life revolve entirely around the temple. The temple’s presence influences every aspect of daily life and social behavior of its inhabitants. The values and ideologies of the sect deeply shape the lifestyle of the people, which in turn impacts the built environment. Since built form reflects cultural values and needs, Nathdwara serves as an ideal example to study how culture affects architecture, particularly in the design and structure of its houses.
