Abstract: This document provides conservation guidelines for Bombay’s Opera House Precinct to preserve its historical, architectural, and cultural significance. It defines the precinct and sub-precincts and outlines the review process by the Municipal Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC). The guidelines clarify key terms and emphasize maintaining the precinct’s unique character within Bombay’s urban heritage. They cover regulations on reconstruction, repairs, restorations, and new additions. Specific architectural controls address Edwardian, Indo-Edwardian, Vernacular, and Corner Buildings to ensure sympathetic interventions. These guidelines aim to protect the precinct’s heritage while supporting thoughtful, context-sensitive development. A bibliography supports the framework.
