Abstract: The *Environment Status of Brihanmumbai 2008–2009* provides a detailed overview of the city’s environmental conditions, assessing land use, recreational areas, water supply, rainwater harvesting, sewage and storm-water systems, and solid waste management. It reviews power consumption, transport, housing, and slum conditions, along with air quality, noise levels, and land cover changes linked to urban growth. The report also examines industrial activities, associated hazards, and public health indicators, and outlines the roles of the Disaster Management Cell and CCRC. It concludes by identifying key environmental challenges and highlighting major features shaping Mumbai’s environment during this period.
