Abstract: “Equitable Convergence: Transforming Infrastructural Barriers to Revive Urban Common Space” examines the role of infrastructure in shaping public spaces and social equity in Mumbai, with a focus on Bandra. The thesis identifies how socio-economic and infrastructural barriers fragment shared spaces, limiting community interaction. Drawing on case studies from both Mumbai and Berkeley, it proposes a design to dismantle these barriers, fostering inclusive urban spaces that promote collaboration and equality. By integrating sustainable urban planning and equitable design, the project envisions revitalizing Bandra’s common spaces, addressing social divides, and encouraging a sense of shared ownership and belonging within the city.
