Abstract: In this way, the citizen” seventh report Excreta Matters: How urban India is soaking up water, polluting rivers and drowning in its own waste puts available information, desperately sourced and pieced together to provide us the begining of the new research that needs to be undertaken. We believe this research agenda is both essencial and overdue. India is growing in its cities and this growth will have huge implications on the environment and development scenario of our future. But this growth is happning without scrutiny and without knowledge that should drive policy.
