Abstract: This study examines the transformation of Navi Mumbai from a marshy land in 1945 to a modern smart city by 2017. It traces the city’s development through phases, starting with the need for a new urban center due to Mumbai’s overcrowding. Key stages include organizational setup, infrastructural growth, market relocations, and resilience during economic recessions. By 2015, Navi Mumbai saw major restructuring and infrastructure advancements. Innovations in industry and engineering, along with strategic collaborations, played a pivotal role. The city’s evolution highlights successful urban planning and sustainability, offering valuable lessons for other cities undergoing similar growth.
