Abstract: This study examines the intersection of India’s forest-related laws, focusing on conflicts and complementarities between the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and other key legislation, such as the Indian Forest Act (IFA), Wildlife Protection Act (WPA), and Forest Conservation Act (FCA). The FRA, enacted in 2006, secures the rights of forest-dwelling communities, while other laws prioritize forest management and conservation. The study explores governance challenges arising from overlapping legal frameworks, particularly regarding the rights of indigenous and local communities. It provides insights into resolving these conflicts and achieving more integrated forest governance in India.
