Abstract: The *Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities (First Revision) 2012* by the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) update the 1989 version to promote safer, more accessible, and inclusive pedestrian infrastructure. Emphasizing the needs of all users, including people with disabilities, the guidelines provide comprehensive instructions for planning, designing, and maintaining footpaths, crossings, and school zones. They aim to enhance pedestrian safety and encourage walking in urban and semi-urban areas by fostering a user-friendly environment.
