Abstract: This paper examines the ongoing housing struggles of Bombay’s working class over the past decade, focusing on key events like the evictions from Janata Colony to Cheetah Camp and the displacements during the 1974 and 1982 workers’ strikes. These events illustrate the persistent marginalization and oppression of the urban poor. The paper critiques the Draft National Housing Policy by the Ministry of Urban Development, arguing it excludes workers’ needs and denies their right to adequate housing. It highlights the voices of trade unions and unorganized workers demanding housing justice and places housing rights at the core of the broader labor struggle.
