Abstract: In January 1984, students and staff from the M.Phil and Diploma Courses in Housing for Developing Countries undertook a two-week Study Visit to Egypt, hosted by the Department of Architecture at the University of Helwan (Faculty of Fine Arts, Zamalek). This marked the first overseas trip involving both students and staff as a formal part of the course. The visit aimed to deepen understanding of housing issues in developing countries through direct exposure to Egypt’s architectural and urban development context. This report documents the experiences, observations, and insights gained during the study tour.
