Abstract: This study creates a comprehensive inventory of Mumbai’s key environmental features—open spaces, water courses, coastline features, large urban greens, and water bodies. Through field surveys, remote sensing, and GIS mapping, the research assesses their distribution, condition, and accessibility. The findings highlight the challenges these natural assets face amid rapid urbanization, emphasizing their critical role in Mumbai’s ecological balance. The study underscores the need for policies that preserve and integrate these environmental features into urban planning, ensuring sustainable growth while protecting the city’s natural heritage for future generations.
