Abstract: This edition of Reclaiming Bombay, the Academic Association Journal of Jai Hind College, critically examines Mumbai’s urban, cultural, and social transformations. Highlighting missed opportunities in redeveloping the city’s cotton textile mill lands, it explores tensions between heritage, economics, and urban planning. Through essays, poems, and analyses, the journal addresses Bombay’s evolving identity, including “Chutneyfication” in literature, memory and desire in Nalini Malani’s art, and architectural shifts amid consumerism.
