Abstract: The Vienna Secession, founded in 1897 in Vienna, Austria, was a landmark movement in modern art, championing artistic freedom and challenging traditional academic norms. Central to the movement was the Secession Building, an architectural symbol of innovation, and collaborations among artists, notably Gustav Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze, which exemplified the integration of art and contemporary cultural ideals. This study examines the organizational structure of the Secession, its presidents from 1897 to 1997, and the Society of Friends of the Vienna Secession. By analyzing its principles, artworks, and institutional framework, the paper highlights the Secession’s enduring influence on Vienna’s art, architecture, and cultural identity.
