Abstract: The revised edition reflects significant updates in scientific and common bird names since the 1996 version, incorporating changes based on the 2001 publication of standardized names in *Buceros 6(1)*. These updates aim to promote consistency in bird nomenclature across the Indian Subcontinent and beyond, enhancing communication among birdwatchers. The earlier edition’s Alternate Common Names have been removed. Additionally, the previous index listing plate and serial numbers has been replaced with separate indexes for Scientific and Common names, arranged by page number. Minor errors from the earlier edition have also been corrected, making this version more accurate and user-friendly.
