Abstract: The “Twin City” concept for Bombay aims to alleviate urbanization, infrastructure, and spatial challenges by creating a new metropolitan hub, “New Bombay.” The plan focuses on redistributing population and industrial activity, with a particular emphasis on mass transport, housing, industrial development, and slum rehabilitation. It addresses issues like land reclamation, air pollution, and the integration of rural-urban populations, proposing sustainable growth solutions. The plan also explores the role of local governments and institutions, alongside the Maharashtra Economic Development Council, in executing this vision. Ultimately, the project seeks to create a balanced, sustainable future for the Bombay region.
